This assumes knowledge of how to browse your disk drives with explorer, and how to download files from the internet. Experienced users will be able to jump some steps.
This assumes you are a new user of UI-View, so describes installing the 16 bit (windows) version of UI-View. If you are a registered user, you should install UI-View32. The process is similar, but a different set of files is obtained from the web site, and the programme will be installed in a different folder.
There are always several ways to set up a computer. This instruction is not intended to contradict any others, just set out step-by-step one way to get these programmes running together.
DOWNLOAD THE PROGRAMMES FROM THE INTERNET
Create a folder to store your downloaded files. Use windows explorer, click on C:, select File, New and Folder. Name the folder download.
Download the AGW programme by clicking on download agwpe.zip on SV2AGW’s internet page at
http://www.raag.org/sv2agw/inst.htm. Save the file to disk at c:\download
Download the AGW drivers from the same site by clicking on download drivers.zip. Save the file to disk at c:\download.
Note you DO NOT need the TCP/IP drivers, even if you use TCP/IP on your local
computer.
UI-View (16 bit) Downloads and clicking on uisfx236.exe from G4IDE’s ui-view site at
www.ui-view.com . Save to C:\download.
INSTALL AND RUN AGW PACKET ENGINE
Create a folder called C:\agw on your hard drive (same procedure as step 1 above)
Double click on the file agwpe.zip in your c:\download folder. Winzip should start, and display a number of agw files. If winzip does not appear, you probably do not have winzip installed. See "if it does not work" below.
Using winzip, extract all files to the c:\agw directory
Double click on the file drivers.zip in your c:\download folder. Winzip should start, and display agw driver files. Extract all files to c:\agw. Close winzip

It will ask for the com port memory and interrupt. The defaults for these are:
Com1 3E8 int 4
Com2 2E8 int 3
Note that if after installation the packet engine does not work, these may need to be changed. See "if it does not work" below
You can type any name in the Port Description, eg: "144.65MHz simplex"
Click OK, and you will be advised to re-start the packet engine.
